I AM BORED.

Polly’s Curry Chicken
I am on leave today!
Since young, I never hardly attempt to cook.
Ray had never complained about my inability to cook, but I always felt guilty that I never even prepared cup noodles for him before.
On occasions when we had maggie mee, he was the one whom did the cooking as I insisted that his mee goreng taste better then mine.
Hence, making use of my free time, I decided to whip up a few delicious home-cooked dishes for him!!!
Ok, I didn’t really prepare a few dishes.
I decided on Curry Chicken, which is his all-time favourite.
A few years ago, Joyce, Shanshan and me prepared curry chicken at Big Joel’s place.
Joyce did most of the cooking and I just helped out with preparations like peeling the potatoes.
But I can still remember most of the procedures.
I popped by Carrefour @ Plaza Singapura to buy the ingredients for Polly’s Curry Chicken.
As I was carrying my shopping basket and looking for the stuff which I require, (in shorts and no make-up), I feel like a housewife whom is really good in cooking. *blush*
Carrying my buys from Carrefour and heavy gym bag, I was really tempted to take a cab home.
But good and thrifty housewives don’t waste $$ on cabs!
And Plaza Singapura is really near my place as it is only 4 MRT stops on the NEL.

Proof that I took the MRT instead of cab!

These are my buys! 3 heavy bags!
I spent around 25 bucks on everything, which feels to be quite expensive for a meal.
But I didn’t use all the ingredients, and I bought some extra stuff.
So it was still quite affordable.

The star of the day – instant curry mix!
It is really convenient.
I don’t have to fry the curry or mix curry powder or whatsoever.
The instant mix pack even contains coconut powder and I need not buy coconut milk separately.

What is curry without bread?
And I chose wholemeal bread becos it is healthier then white bread.
In the end, Ray didn’t had a single slice cos he don’t like wholemeal.
My fat brother will finish it anyway.

CP Shrimp Wonton!!!!!!
I know wonton and curry don’t go hand in hand.
But this is Ray’s favourite, so heck care!
I added wonton into Polly’s Curry Chicken. Haha.

I also bought some veggies, wanted to fry it with oyster sauce or something.
Because I think it seems healthier to include some veggie for dinner.
But I can’t find oyster sauce at home, and I don’t really know how to cook veggies.
In the end, it is untouched and left in my big and empty fridge.
Prolly, it will rot and I have to throw it away 2 weeks later.

Chicken!
I got ready-cut chicken without bones, as well as chicken drumsticks.
It’s a lot easier to handle than a whole chicken. Hehe.

There are 2 types of potatoes in the supermarket.
I have no idea which is better, so I got both.
In the end, I cooked the bigger potatoes on the right.

The potatoes which I peeled and cutted into pieces, ready to be added to Polly’s Curry Chicken!
I love potatoes, so I prepared more than the recommended 3 big pieces as per the recipe. Hehe.

“Add 400ml of water, mix well and bring to boil”
I don’t have any measuring cup at home, so I made do with my Nike water bottle which was a Xmas present from Marvin and Wendy.

Check out my big pot!
The pot is actually too big, but it is the only suitable pot which I have for curry chicken.

The beginning stage of Polly’s Curry Chicken.
I just added the water to the instant mix and waiting for it to boil.
Super excited!
Then, I was too busy to take photos.
After the water starts boiling, I added my potatoes and chicken.
To my dismay, the ready-cut chicken is not THAT ready after all.
Only the bones were removed, but the meat is still in big chucky pieces and I had to slice it myself.
I also took out the CP Wonton from the freezer to de-freeze.
After putting in the potatoes and chicken, I realised that I added too much ingredients.
And I dare not top up water, as the instant mix was only for a certain amount of water.
Too much water might dilute the curry and it will turn out tasteless.

After mixing the coconut powder provided with water in a separate bowl, I got a nice milky liquid which I added to the curry as instructed.
And I also added chili powder for extra spice.

Check out the hot steam!
All ingredients are in, curry boiling and I decided to let it simmer for 10 more minutes to ensure that the chicken and potatoes are thoroughly cooked.
(And I like my pototoes soft)

Proudly presenting, Polly’s Curry Chicken!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
My masterpiece after 2 hours of hardwork!
I also prepared rice for my fat brother and Ray.
The 3 of us finished the whole pot of curry!
And both Ray and my fat brother said it’s quite tasty for a first-timer.
*smiles*
It was only towards the end of the day, when Ray reminded me that it’s our 4th month anniversary.
I totally forgot about it, as it is super tiring to be remembering so many different dates.
Moreover, we can’t be celebrating and doing gift-exchange every month right?
I pretended that I KNOW it was the 4th month, and Polly’s Curry Chicken was a small celebration.
Of cos, he is too smart to buy that and exposed the fact that I don’t remember anything. Haha.
*hearts*
Results!
I got my results!
Scored A for BIS and C for FS.
Was kinda disappointed initially as I was targeting at least a B for FS.
But seems like FS is a killer module, and quite a few of my coursemates flucked the module.
The rest got either C or D.
So perhaps, I didn’t fare that bad after all.
GOODBYE PSB!!!!!!!!!
Next on my list - to commerce on my degree course.
I’m torn between UOL and Unisim.
Partly cos my private diploma from PSB might not be able to guarantee acceptance into UOL.
Dilemma and confusion.
Our First Valentine’s Day
It’s our first Vday! *blush*
I have no idea what to get for him.
Initially, I wanted to get a keyboard for him as that’s the only thing which he needs now.
But Mei said it’s super unromantic.
And claimed that it’s the same as him buying a screen protector for me during Vday. Haha.
In the end, we agreed not to get presents for each other.

I’m not a flower-person.
Despite me reminding him the no-flowers rule the night before, he still got a small bonquet for me. Cos I said blue roses are pretty.
The cupcakes are from me, and sadly, it’s purchased with cash and not self-baked.
Haha. :p

On our way to Sentosa!
Kinda excited cos it’s been a while since I last been to Sentosa.

The cupcakes are so pretty that I can’t resist taking more photos.
For those whom are interested, check out Gourmet Pig.

Ray eating one of the cupcakes.
It’s delicious! (and check out his double chin. Muahahahaha!!!!!!!)

In the cable car already!!!!!

The view from our cabin.

Ray insisted that he don’t like to take photos alone, and made funny faces while I snapped away.

We are in Cabin #46!! Rossi’s cabin! Haha.

Some friends complained that all of our photos in Facebook and Friendster are the same ‘big-head’ shots. Just that we are wearing different clothes. Hence, we decided on a change of expression.

Seriously, I don’t really need to act cute.
Because I am born cute.

Check out the sunset behind us!

We boarded the cable car @ Harbourfront, and went to Mount Faber, before going to Sentosa.
It was a long ride, and we had lots of photos taken in the cable car. Haha.

One of Ray’s favourite photo.
‘WOW!! WE ARE IN CABLE CAR LEH!!!!’

The moment we reached Sentosa, we took the Blue Line to Beach Station to buy tickets for Songs of the Sea.
Check out the Q! Horrible.

What can we do to kill the boredom while quening for tickets?
Photo-taking, of cos.

The ticketing booth.
It cost us $6 per pax.

The show starts at 7.40pm, and we got our tickets at around 6.30pm.
And this is the Q outside the show venue at 6.40pm, one hour before the show.
Anyway, we joined in the quene as well, in case we cannot get good seats.
Haha.
Born in Singapore. Can’t help it.

Our tickets.
Ray said to take a photo of the ticket’s serial numbers.
Can buy 4D or Toto or something.

Finally, the gates are open.
Songs of the Sea! Here we come!!

While waiting for the show to start.
A view of the show venue from our bench seats.

It wasn’t THAT crowded after all.

Ray : Sun gonna set soon liao leh…. Show still mai start???

Another photo of us before the show commerce. Hehe.

Wtf! It’s Vday and Ray actually played game on his hp while waiting.
Tmd.

The show finally started!
I was rather bored at the beginning of the show, as it’s just some youngsters singing.
The excitement came when the laser show started!

I was pretty impressive with the fireworks (or dunnoe what you call this fire thingy).

Check this out!
I took a few videos of the musical, but don’t know how to upload it. :p

After the show ended, we wandered around and came to Sentosa Flowers 2008.
A special event for Chinese New Year.

Pretty impressive!

Polly and Flowers.

Don’t feel like asking strangers to take photos of us, but I still managed to get a pretty decent shot of us and the flowers. *proud*

Ray pouting :I said I don’t like to take photos alone liao ma!!

Walked around, and saw this sign, Language of Love.

We actually had to quene up to pose in front of this structure.
And Sentosa Management had 2 staff here to take photos for visitors.
It’s FOC. I thought we had to pay. Haha.

Polly : Dar, got ducks leh!!
Ray : Eh… they are swans, not ducks.
Polly : ………………………..

I’m gonna strangle the swan / duck!!!!!!!

I’m a rat also!
3 little rats pointing towards the sky.

Scare of rats. Scare of me. Muahahaha…

By now, it’s 9pm. And we decided to take the Red Line back to Cable Car Station.
But it was a long wait.
The bus comes once every 20 minutes only!

Ray is trying to capture the Carlsberg Sky Tower behind me.
But somehow, it didn’t appear in the photo.

Back in Harbourfront!
Walking back to Vivo to get the car, and I thought it’s artistic to take a photo of him walking.

Polly : Dar, you see this photo. Actually I’m not THAT fat ma. You can still see the shape of my waist.
Ray : Ya loh. Can still see your waist. Just that it’s abit thick.
Polly : ………………………………. x 2

We reached my place, and suddenly recalled that we didn’t take a photo with our Vday surprises for each other.
So here is Ray, with my cupcakes for him.
We eaten the 1st two already. Haha.

Me and the flowers!
Ray said we are silly to take photos in front of the rubbish chute, when there are so many nice backgrounds @ Sentosa. Haha.

Last but not least, Ah Gua Raymond.
$30 for 1 hour. Any takers?

The flowers again, with hand-made card from him.
I teased him for being so niang, as normally girls are the one making cards for guys. Haha.
‘I wanna spend every Feb 14 with you too’.
PSP
A couple of days ago, I borrowed Weihao’s portable hard disc where he saved all his PSP games.
Some games load fine… but to my dismay, those that I really wanted don’t work!
An error message appeared but I have no idea how to solve it.
Read up PSP forums, and it’s either I need a dummy UMD disc to ‘cheat’ the PSP, or I need to upgrade my firmware.
But I’m not an expert in this firmware thingy, and dare not try anything funny.
Argh….
Fion is intending to get a PSP Slim for Hui’s birthday and I promised to source for a good bargain.
Feel tempted to get a new PSP Slim, and give Ying my Pink PSP (I promised it as a gift for her if she can score in her coming exams).
But.. I cannot waste money!!!!!!!
Exam Results
The results for my final modules are supposed to be out by 18 Feb, but we normally get the results a few days before the release date.
However, it’s already 12th and there are still no updates on the student site.
Argh….
The exams were taken on Dec and it takes 2 freaking months for Cambridge to mark the papers.
Pui!
*waiting impatiently*
Chinese New Year 2008
Woohoo! CNY 2008 is finally over!
This year’s Chinese New Year isn’t that bad after all.
Day 1 – Chu Yi
Went to visit Ray’s relatives, and I don’t really blend in well.
I’m terribly shy among strangers!
Didn’t talk much to anyone.
I guess Ray was disappointed, cos he was expecting me to mingle around with his aunties.
He said that he was clueless on how to ‘entertain’ me when I looked bored, as this is the first time that he brought his gf to meet his relatives.
Feel kinda bad, that I didn’t managed to get along as well with his extended family, when he gets along fine with mine.
Next year! I will try harder!
Evening, we went to Jane’s place for reunion dinner.

Ray with the girls whom adore him to bits.

Me and Ah Ma, plus Qiqi the extra.

Princess Qiqi is super adorable in her pink cheongsum!

Lemon is sweet.
We had steamboat again.
This is the 3rd steamboat dinner which we had in 2 days.

After dinner, it was gambling time.
Went home after that, as both Ray and me were tired out.

The ones that matter most to me.
Day 2 – Chu Er
Fion and Jane + Family came to my place in the morning.
And they gave a loud sigh when they saw my messy room.
Haha.
I’m always a messy girl la!! Cannot be helped.
:p
Evening, we went to Jason’s place for a gathering with the Spoonies.

The food which was prepared by Jason, aka Tortoise.
I wish I can cook as well as him!

Eat, Eat, Eat!

While the rest were busy eating, I entertained myself by taking photos.

Ju insisted on being on my left, as she claims that she looks prettier on her left.

The Spoonies Captain, Ex-Vice Captain, and Current Vice Captain.

Jamie and Jason have this super big watchdog, whom was chained up in the kitchen during the gathering.
The thing is, we need to go to the kitchen for ice and drinks, and it scared the hell out of me when he starts barking at me.

Ray claims that he is not afraid of dogs, yet he don’t dare to get any nearer to pose for a photo!
Haha!

Taken during a smoking break @ the gates.
Esther, Cheryl, Ju and me.
And I am not THAT short.
I had to squat a little to ensure that I don’t block Esther.

Isn’t she adorable!
Allie (I hope I got her name right) is really talkative for her age.

I had a hard time getting her to pose for a proper photo.

Andrew loves to make fun of my vertically challenged frame.
He is 183cm, by the way.
(And I was wearing heels)

They were playing mahjong and I went round the table, pestering them for a photo each.

Indoors, Wendy and Eric were watching tele and of cos, they have to entertain me.

This is so gay la!!

Jamie (she is a mother of 2!) and me

Wendy and me trying to pout in a sexy way.
After the gambling session, the group (more than 20 of us, i think!) went to Vivo for a movie – Ah Long something something.
It was a local production starring Fann Wong and Mark Lee.
Was kinda disappointed by the storyline, but the show was funny.
Day 3 – Chu San
Ray and me slept in until 6.30pm.
SIX-THIRTY PM!!!!!!!!
We are pigs.
Went to Jane’s place for a short while, before we met the Spoonies at Plaza Sing for movie again.
Kungfu Dunk by Jay Chou.
It’s the best movie among the three which we caught during the CNY period.
Marvellous!
Day 4 – Chu Si
We slept in late again.
Breakfast cum lunch was settled at Changi Village, before we went to Jane’s place (again).
Gambled a while, before I came home with John and hanged around online until now.
Tomorrow is Monday – back to office!
Sian ar!!!!!!!!!
Gong Xi Fa Cai
Gong Xi Fa Cai! (but I still hate Chinese New Year)
New Year Eve was a declared half-day for my company, but I didn’t went back to office.
The travel time to and forth will be 3 hours, and it simply doesn’t make sense that I travel 3 hours and work for 4 hours.
Afternoon, Ray and me went to Bugis for some last-minute shopping.
The human crowd was horrible!!
Went back to Ray’s place for an early dinner at about 5pm.
For years, Fion had been practising 2 reunion dinners during CNY Eve.
She will first have dinner at her husband’s place, before rushing back to our side for 2nd round.
I didn’t expect that I will be doing the same this year!
Initially, I felt funny because Ray and me aren’t even married, but he assured me that it’s alright and Mama Ong personally asked me to join them for reunion dinner.
And I got 2 ang baos from both Papa Ong and Mama Ong.
We came back to my place for the 2nd reunion dinner at 7pm.
This year, Fion and Jane decided not to join us as the timing was quite rushed.
Hence, it’s only John, Ah Ma and The Father plus me and Ray.
John was the one whom asked Ray to join us.
It’s not that I didn’t want Ray here, but John was the one whom suggested it first.
I was kinda surprised, as this is the first time my brother invited my boyfriend for reunion dinner.
Somehow, Ray managed to get into everyone’s good books.
Fion and Jane had been ‘warning’ me that I should treasure him, and the kids adore him.
For years, I felt envious that Alex and Hui seem to be able to merge into our family completely and they aren’t considered ‘outsiders’.
And now, though we are only together for less than 4 months, the whole family treats Ray as one of us and I don’t find myself caught in between when I wanna spend time with both.
It’s a very nice feeling that he actually puts in effort to get along with my family, cos he knows they are important to me.
Anyway, eating 2 dinners is plain torture.
I avoided eating by keeping myself busy with prawn-peeling.
Those whom knows me really well, should understand that I don’t eat prawns.
It’s not because I don’t like prawns.
It’s simply because I hate to peel prawns hence don’t eat prawns to avoid the trouble.
So, Raymond Ong. Be honoured that I actually peel prawns for you. Duhz!
Lazed around at home, watching TV, surfing net and playing games while waiting for time to pass.
Midnight, we met the Spoonies at Tampines Mall for CJ7.
The show was utterly lame, but nevertheless, still funny and touching.
It was 3.30am by the time the show ended.
The Spoonies went ahead with kopi and popped by Loyang if I am not wrong, but Ray was tired out and he gotta wake early the next day.
Hence he sent me home immediately.
It’s 1pm now! And I am supposed to go to his aunt’s place.
Other then his immediate family, I had never met his relatives before.
And I heard that his whole extended family will be there.
*nervous*
Polly Hates Chinese New Year
My most dreaded festival is here – Chinese New Year.
I cannot remember when did it started, but the joy and excitement and anticipation of Chinese New Year had long disappeared from my life.
And I cannot remember why I hate Chinese New Year also.
I just dislike it. Full-stop.
